About Brown FM
Brown FM turns math into deep, continuous brown noise, generated live on your iPhone while you listen.
What is brown noise?
It’s the deep, steady rumble you hear in waterfalls, heavy rain, or wind — sound with most of its power in the low end. White noise hisses. Brown noise hums underneath everything.
How is it made?
Your phone creates it live while you listen. The app rolls fresh random numbers thousands of times a second and smooths them into that deep rumble — the same way a synthesizer makes a tone.
Does it repeat?
Not in any practical sense. It is generated continuously, so there is no recording or track boundary and no pattern a listener could encounter again.
Why does it help sleep?
A steady low sound can cover small noises such as doors, pipes, or traffic. Many listeners find that a constant sound makes those changes less noticeable at night.
